Braydon Pulcanio paces the Tommies with a tie for 13th
INDEPENDENCE, Minn. -- St. Thomas men's golf finished eighth of 15 teams at the Gopher Invitational over the weekend, shooting a three-round total of 873 (+21) at Windsong Farm. The Tommies finished directly behind West Virginia and ahead of Grand Canyon, Iowa State, Oral Roberts, Minnesota, Nebraska and two others.
St. Thomas opened with a 299 (+11) in the first round before rounding into form, posting a 288 (+4) in the second round and closing with its best team score of the week, a 286 (+2), in the final round on Tuesday.
Braydon Pulcanio led St. Thomas, tying for 13th place. The freshman improved each round, going 75-71-69 for a 215 (+2) and posting the Tommies' low round of the day in the final round with his 69. He bogeyed just one hole in his final trip around the difficult course and never finished outside the top two among Tommie scorers throughout the competition.
Miles Bollinger tied for 25th place, opening with a 70 (-1) before a tougher second round of 79 (+8) and closing with a 69 (-2) to finish at 218 (+5). Bollinger matched Pulcanio for the team's low score on the final day, carding four birdies against two bogeys.
Tyler McNeive tied for 30th at 220 (+7), highlighted by a second-round 68 (-3) sandwiched between rounds of 77 (+6) and 75 (+4). His 68 was the best individual round of the tournament for the Tommies.
Anthony Jomphe finished in a tie for 45th place, carding rounds of 77-73-73 for a 223 (+10). Collin Ramos rounded out the Tommies' scoring in 75th place at 232 (+19), with rounds of 79-76-76.
