MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The St. Thomas Women's Hockey team hosted Minnesota State in the series finale. The Mavericks earned a 3-1 victory over the Tommies on Saturday night at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.

RECAP
Minnesota State opened scoring once again in game two of the weekend series. At the 12-minute mark, Minnesota State scored two goals within one minute, putting the Mavericks in the lead early in the game.

With 1:34 remaining in the opening period, the Mavericks were called for body checking and sent to the box. Ellah Hause cut the Maverick's lead in half with a goal on the power play. Hause's fourth goal of her career was Tommies' 10th power play goal of the season.

The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Mavericks throughout the second period. Both teams totaled a combined 30 shots on net, but the period remained scoreless as both goalies stopped all shot attempts. Calla Frank saved all 24 shots on goal, bring her two-period total to 40 saves.

Early in the third period Minnesota State drew a penalty, sending the Mavericks on their first power play of the game. Minnesota State capitalized on this player advantage, scoring their third goal of the game, and putting an end to Frank's 35 straight saves.

With 1:56 to go, the Tommies pulled their goalie to play 6-on-5 hockey. The Tommies added two shots on goal with an extra skater but could not put another one past the Maverick's Lauren Barbro.

Calla Frank finished the night with a season-high of 47 saves in the Tommies' 3-1 loss to the Mavericks.
