Home Sweet Home for Women's Soccer; season-closing homestand with North Dakota and Nebraska Omaha

The Tommies look to finish strong with two games against a couple Summit League opponents positioned higher up in the conference standings this week.
St. Paul, Minn. – The Tommie Women's Soccer Team (3-6-4 overall, 1-4-1 Summit) return home to South Field for two games against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (5-7-4, 1-3-2) on Thursday Oct. 18 and the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks (5-4-5, 2-1-3) Sunday Oct. 22.
The Tommies fell short against the second place Jackrabbits of South Dakota State their last time out, 3-0 in Brookings. The Jackrabbits scored 33 minutes into the contest and never looked back. They outshot the Purple 16-9 and stretched their regular season home winning streak to 43.
Returning to South Field for the first time in 18 days, the Tommies have defended their home turf well with a 1-2-1 record and a 12-3 positive goal differential.
The Fighting Hawks have one more conference point than St. Thomas and are unbeaten in their last two games with a 0-0 tie against North Dakota State and a 3-2 win over Oral Roberts. The Mavericks currently sit in a playoff spot with two games to go and have five more points than the Toms. They have played back-to-back scoreless ties with first place Denver and third place South Dakota.
The Tommies are winless in two meetings with the Mavericks and have split their two battles with the Fighting Hawks. They are undefeated in one game at home against North Dakota.
The team will be hosting International Day at their Thursday contest against North Dakota. All fans are encouraged to wear international soccer jerseys to the game.
Senior Day 2023 will be celebrated at South Field before and after Sunday's game. Seniors Jasmine Gates and Olivia Graupmann will each be honored.
Scouting North Dakota
The Fighting Hawks are led into battle by sixth-year head coach Chris Logan. His team got out to a phenomenal start to the year losing just two of their first seven games (3-2-2). They have since gone 2-5-2.
Sophomore Amelia Loeffler leads the team with 12 points this season. She scored seven points in two games against Illinois State and Southern Indiana and then went seven games with just one point. She has since seen an uptick in production with four points in her last three games including goals against South Dakota State and Oral Roberts.
Madi Livingston has been between the posts for every game this season. She carries a 5-7-4 record and has allowed 18 goals on 230 shots faced. Her competitive play has earned her a 1.13 goals against average and .818 save percentage. She has also produced seven shutouts this season. The grad student leads the Summit League in saves (81), saves per game (5.06), and shutouts.
Scouting Nebraska Omaha
The Maverick's head coach, Tim Walters, is also in his sixth season. Walter's team has had an up-and-down season but has never lost more than two games in a row. His squad is unbeaten in their last three coming off an exciting 3-2 win over the Kansas City Roos.
Their offense is run through on of the most elite scorers in the Summit, senior Sophia Green. She leads the way with 19 points this season and has scores a point in all but five games in 2023. Her boot has run a little cold here in the last four games with just one assist after tallying 18 points in the first 10 games.
Emma Konsmo has made 11 starts in goal for the Mavs and carries a 4-4-3 record. She has allowed just 1.18 goals per game and has made 49 saves for a .790 save percentage.
It has been senior Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen recently though. She has allowed just two goals in three games against Denver, South Dakota, and Kansas City and has yet to lose. She has made 11 saves on 33 shots faced for a .846 save percentage.
