ST. PAUL, Minn. – In their first match at home in 18 days, St. Thomas Women's Soccer ended their match against the Fighting Hawks in a scoreless tie.
A variety of Tommies launched several shots towards the UND goal totaling 22 shots with seven of them reaching the goal.
RECAP
The Tommies controlled the pace of the match from the start. St. Thomas was able to take the first five shots within 10 minutes of play, two of them coming from junior Lissa Mizutani. The best opportunity of the match for the Tommies to score came from junior Mariah Nguyen who sent the ball careening off the right post.
With some aggressive play by goalkeeper Oliva Rowe, the Purple was able to hold the match scoreless in the first half.
The second half was the same story for the Tommies as they continued to control the ball and find opportunities to take shots. Some great midfield passing by St Thomas players lead the Tommies to three consecutive shots around the 70thminute mark, one coming from sophomore McKenna Lehmen.
The Purple kept North Dakota pressured throughout the match and did not give up a shot in the last 15 minutes. St. Thomas was unable to find the net with their seven shots on goal and finished the match in a draw to North Dakota.
