The Tommies came up empty against the Omaha Mavericks.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – In their final match of the season, the University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer team fell to the Omaha Mavericks 4-0 at home on South Field. The Tommies finish the season 3-7-5 overall and in the ninth spot in Summit League at 1-5-2.
RECAP
The Tommies were met with aggressive play from the Mavericks within the first nine minutes of the match, facing a couple shots by Omaha and falling 1-0 early.
After an attempted shot by Junior Camryn Rintoul in the 16th minute, the Mavericks were able to muster a counterattack and found the net again, making it a 2-0 game halfway through the first. St. Thomas tried to find a couple opportunities in the box after some fancy footwork by junior Abby Brantner led to couple crosses but they could not find a finish. The Tommies would give up another goal and ended the first half down 3-0.
St. Thomas quickly gave up a goal to Omaha early in the second half. After the goal, the Tommies were able to take four of the next five shots, two coming from Rintoul that were both on goal.
The rest of the second half was all about possession as the Tommies were unable to break through the defensive line of Mavericks. As a final substitution of 2023 head coach Sheila McGill called upon senior goalkeeper Olivia Graupmann. Both Olivia Graupmann and Jasmine Gates celebrated senior day on a picture-perfect Minnesota Sunday.
