Women's Golf finishes third at Jackrabbit Intercollegiate

Brookings, S.D. - The St. Thomas Women's Golf Team finished in third place out of six teams with two top-10 individual finishers at Jackrabbit Intercollegiate.
"The growth that I've seen from our team in just our first two meets has been incredible," said Head Coach Katie Hanneman. "For us as a team to finish in third place and to have Isabelle finish in the meet's top-five individually is a great accomplishment for not only her, but our whole team."
Collectively, the Tommies shot their best round on Tuesday, finishing the third and final round with a score of 306 to bring the three-round total to 932. North Dakota State posted the best team score (904) and host South Dakota State finished second with a score of 912. The Purple finished ahead of North Dakota (955), Green Bay (956) and the University of Sioux Falls (1,021).
Individually, sophomore Isabelle Lynch improved her score in each of the three rounds, finishing with scores of 80, 74, and 72, which landed her individually in fourth place for the meet. Junior transfer Courtney Wedin finished the three-round meet with scores of 73, 80, and 77 for a final score of 230, finishing tied for seventh. Also competing for St. Thomas was the freshmen trio of Caroline Monty (tied-12th, 234), Mallory Belka (tied-23rd, 242), and Emma Davies (31st, 252).
Day 1 recap:
As a team, the Tommies shot a combined 626 through the first two rounds of the meet, trailing North Dakota State (604), and South Dakota State (612). St. Thomas holds a 15-stroke lead over North Dakota (641), a 21-stroke lead over Green Bay (647), and a 60-stroke lead over Sioux Falls (686).
Wedin finished the first 36 holes tied for fourth place with a scores of 73 in the first round and 80 in the second for a score of 153 on the day. Lynch finished the first two rounds tied for sixth with a score of 154 after an 80-stoke first round and 74-stroke second round. Monty (tied-13th, 157), Belka (24th, 162), and Davies (31st, 171) all competed on day one.
St. Thomas plays the third and final round, 18 holes, on Tuesday.
