Bloomington, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) has named freshman goaltender Saskia Maurer to the All-WCHA Rookie Team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Maurer, a newcomer for the Tommies from Rothenbach, Switzerland, played in 10 games for St. Thomas in the regular season. She amassed 332 saves in 569 minutes guarding the net, while allowing just over three goals per contest. Her 91.7 save percentage ranks eighth in the entire WCHA among goaltenders.

The two-time WCHA Rookie of the Week posted a career-best 60 saves in a battle against Wisconsin on Nov. 21, tallying a 91.8 save percentage in 60 minutes against the Badgers. Over the season, Maurer posted 27 or more saves in all but one contest that she appeared in.

In addition to serving as the Tommie goalie, Maurer also spent time at the Beijing Winter Olympics, representing Switzerland. Against Canada, she played 20 minutes and recorded 17 saves.
