Women’s Golf finishes 17th, Lynch leads the Tommies finishes tied for 30th at Islander Classic

San Antonio, Texas – The St. Thomas Women's Golf Team is currently in 17th place after a darkness-shortened first day of competition at the Islander Classic hosted at the Breckenridge Park Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas.

"Overall, it was a good start to the spring portion of our schedule," said Head Coach Katie Hanneman. "We are learning and building with each event we get to compete in. We have a relatively young team that's growing each time we get to compete."
 
The St. Thomas Women's Golf Team finished the Islander Classic, the team's first competition of the spring in 17th place out of 18 teams. The Tommies shot 351-327-327/1,005. 

Individually, freshman Isabelle Lynch was the top finisher for the Purple. The Bloomington, Minn., native, finished with a score of 76-80-75/231 and was tied for 30th in the competition. Her score was a new collegiate best.

Day 1 Recap: 

As a team, St. Thomas finished +67 through the first day of competition, and it sat in 17th place.
 
Individually, the Tommies were led by freshman Isabelle Lynch, who was +5 through the first two rounds and tied for 24th.
 
Round 1 was completed Monday, but round 2 was cut short due to darkness. The remaining holes left of round 2 were played Tuesday.

The Tommies return to action on Monday, March 28 at the Golfweek Invitational in Pawley's Island, S.C.
