Game Notes: Men's Hockey set for Lake Superior home series

Tommie Men's Hockey closes out the home portion of its inaugural Division I season on Friday and Saturday Feb. 18-19 as it plays host to CCHA opponent Lake Superior State. Puck drop each night is 7:07 p.m., at Saint Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.
In October, Lake Superior State swept the Toms -- 3-1 and 6-3 -- in games played in Sault Ste Marie, Mich.
Lake Superior swept Ferris State last weekend and now holds fifth place in the conference. The Lakers are 10-5-1 on home ice and 4-10 on the road. They are looking to get a home playoff series with a top-four league finish. The Lakers recently split two games at Northern Michigan, and took two losses against Michigan Tech. Back in November, the Lakers defeated top-ranked Minnesota State 1-0. Junior forward Louis Boudon leads the team in points with 33 in 29 games played (team-best 13 goals).
The Toms lost 6-1 and 7-3 last weekend at Alaska-Fairbanks -- the first trip to Alaska for Tommie Hockey in 33 seasons. Fairbanks has won five in a row and is 10-5-1 since early December.
Fifteen of St. Thomas' 26 losses have come against teams that are currently ranked in the top 20 or receiving votes in this week's USCHO poll.
Cameron Recchi has eight points (three goals, five assists) in his last 10 games; Tim Piechowski has recorded three goals and two assists in his last eight outings. Peter Thome sits at 616 saves on the season and 1,409 on his career including four seasons at North Dakota.
