Swimming & Diving sets records on day one of Summit League Championships

West Fargo, N.D. - The St. Thomas men's and women's swimming & diving teams, competing at the first Summit League Swimming & Diving Championships in program history, finished the first day of events on Wednesday.
The women are tied for fourth after one day of competition with 58 points, while the men's team is fifth with 61 points.
On the men's side, A.J. Carollo, Will Goldman, Blake Baertlein, and Garrett Riley tallied a season-best and fifth-place time of 1:31.96 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, finishing ahead of Eastern Illinois. The men's squad set a new team-best time in the 800 Yard Freestyle relay of 6:54.20. Senior Andrew Godfrey finished the 1 Meter Dive with a score of 200.10.
For the women in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Sophie Curran, Grace Urkiel, Anna Astrup, and Skyler Leverenz finished fourth with a season-high finals time of 1:43.96. That time bested conference-foes South Dakota State and Eastern Illinois. In the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, Leverenz, Megan West, Abby Larson, and Elizabeth Bonneville finished fifth, ahead of EIU once again, setting another season-best time of 7:37.53.
