Sioux Falls, S.D. - St. Thomas swimming & diving is set to compete at the Summit League Championships for the first time in program history. The 2022 #SummitSD Championships will be hosted Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, N.D. The championship will run through Saturday, Feb. 19. This is the first appearance at the Summit League Championships for St. Thomas swimming & diving.
Opening with a W
Both the men's and women's swimming & diving teams began the season with wins against Augustana (S.D.) on Oct. 9. The women's squad followed the performance up with a win over Green Bay on Oct. 23.
Summit League Success
This season, freshman Elizabeth Bonneville leads the Tommies in the 50 free (23.89), 100 free (52.30) and 200 free (1:52.00). Seniors Andrew Godfrey and Peyton Ekman will lead a Tommie diving unit at the championships. The Tommies have found success at the conference level in their first year of Division I competition, as six different athletes have secured the league's weekly honors. Ekman is a two-time recipient of the Summit League Women's Diver of the Week award.
Last Time Out
Both units competed at Milwaukee and at the First Chance Meet on Feb. 4-5. The two teams combined for 17 individual top-three placements at the Panthers on Feb. 4.
80's Promotions
The Summit League turns 40 during the 2021-22 academic year and in honor of the silver anniversary, the league has a handful of promotions going on during the championship with opportunities for fans to win 80's themed prize packs.
