Freshmen shine for Swimming & Diving on day two of Summit championships

West Fargo, N.D. - The St. Thomas men's and women's swimming & diving teams capped off day two of the team's first-ever Summit League Swimming & Diving Championships appearance.

Freshman Alex Foti led the Toms in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a seventh-place time of 4:34.75. Another newcomer, Joe Rudd, earned the team's highest placement in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 1:52.70. Casey McGrath earned the Toms' top finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, recording a time of 21.84. A.J. Carollo, Rudd, Michael Scripp, and Garrett Riley tallied fifth place in the 400 Yard Medley Relay (3:24.91).

Elizabeth Bonneville raced to the team's best time in the 500 Yard Freestyle to begin the finals portion of the day, with a time of 5:08.10. The eighth event, the 200 Yard IM, witnessed a tie for fourth by Skyler Leverenz (2:07.02) and a sixth-place showing by Anna Astrup (2:07.26). Grace Urkiel finished 11th in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.15. In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the Purple earned fifth, as Sophie Curran, Urkiel, Astrup, and Bonneville finished in 3:47.30.
