Men's Golf tied for first after day 1 of the Big O Classic, individually Raab sits in second place

Omaha, Neb. - The St. Thomas Men's Golf Team finished the first day of the Big O Classic tied for first place in the 14-team competition.
The Tommies are individually led by junior Matthew Armstrong who sits in second place after posting scores of 70 and 69 to finish day 1 of the classic with a score of 139 finishing five strokes under par through the first 36 holes. Senior Matthew Raab finished the day tied for 18th posting a score of 145 on the day, one stroke over par.
As a team, St. Thomas posted a first-round score of 574, which is tied with SIU Edwardsville and two strokes better than Omaha, the host institution. The Purple shaved six strokes off of their round 2 score, posting a 284 after shooting a 290 through the first 18 holes of the classic.
Also competing for the Tommies is freshman Owen Rexing (tied-30, 77-70--147), junior Glavine Schugel (tied-34, 71-77--148) and senior Matthew Garside (tied-46th, 77-72--149).
St. Thomas finishes the two-day meet with the final 18 holes tomorrow.
