Men’s Golf sets single-round program record at SeattleU Invitational

All four Tommies go under par, led by 68s from McNeive and Roloff
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – St. Thomas men's golf capped the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational with a historic final round, firing a program-record 10-under-par team score. The Tommies climbed two spots on the leaderboard to finish eighth in the 14-team field, nine strokes shy of the top five.
All four scoring golfers finished under par in the final round, highlighted by 68s (-4) from Tyler McNevie and Mason Roloff.
McNeive led the Tommies with a tie for 13th place in the 83-player field. His final round 68 vaulted him 10 spots up the leaderboard and capped a tournament that included two rounds under par. Roloff matched that 68 to jump 11 positions, finishing tied for 20th.
Abilene Christian claimed the team title, finishing five strokes ahead of Idaho. St. Thomas, the lone Summit League representative in the field, placed between Sacramento State and Creighton in the final standings.
Round One
The opening round proved challenging, as no Tommie finished at or below par. Roloff paced the group with a 74 (+2), followed by McNeive at 75 and both Gavin Newkirk and Owen Rexing at 76. Jesse Hand shot a 79 (+7). Roloff led the team with five birdies in the round.
Round Two
The Tommies improved by seven strokes in round two, led by McNeive's 71 (-1). He recorded five birdies and an eagle, highlighted by a two on the par-4 12th hole. Hand bounced back with a 73 (+1), while Roloff carded a 74 with five birdies. Newkirk finished at 76, and Rexing added a 78.
Round Three
St. Thomas surged in the final round, posting one of the lowest team scores in the field and setting a new program record. All four scoring golfers finished under par, while Rexing added an even-par 72.
McNeive and Roloff led the charge with seven and six birdies, respectively. Hand and Newkirk each carded 71s (-1), with Newkirk recording just one bogey on the day. As a team, the Tommies totaled 23 birdies in the final round. Their 43 total birdies placed second in the tournament, and Roloff finished tied for second with 14.
