Swim & Dive sees five Top 10 program marks set at Minnesota Triangular

Minneapolis, Minn. -- St. Thomas Swim & Dive saw five Top 10 program marks set between the men's and women's squads Friday night as it competed against Minnesota and South Dakota State at the Minnesota Triangular.
The Tommie men fell to Gophers, 202-86, and the Jackrabbits, 183-115 while the women also fell to both Gophers, 206-84, and the Jackrabbits, 186-112. The men finished with eight top-three finishes as the women totaled four.
Sophomore Joe Rudd recorded two second-place finishes with times of 55.29 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 51.01 in the 100 butterfly. The 100 breaststroke time ranks second all-time in St. Thomas history, while his time in the 100 butterfly ranks 11th.
Freshman Philip Jensen took third in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. His times of 52.03 in the 100 yard and 1:55.34 in the 200 both rank 10th all-time in program history.
Sophomore Alex Foti finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:43.54 and third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:54.02. His 1000 freestyle time ranks sixth in program history.
The women were led by junior Grace Urkiel who placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.31 and third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.22. Her time in the 100 breaststroke ranks fourth-best in St. Thomas history.
Freshman Hanna Ryan took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.83, which is 15th fastest in program history. Sophomore Ashley Plantenberg took third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:27.89 while sophomore Elizabeth Bonneville recorded seventh place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstrokes. Both times ranked among the top 12 at St. Thomas all-time.
St. Thomas continues its season Nov. 4-5 as it competes at the Coyote Extravaganza hosted by South Dakota in Sioux Falls, S.D.
