OCALA, FLA. – Members of the University of St. Thomas swim and dive teams competed at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships over the weekend, hosted at the FAST Facility in Ocala, Florida. Six Tommies traveled south to compete in the National Invitational, making the program's first postseason championship appearance of the Division I era.
 
Charlie Folks (Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie) put together the best individual finish for St. Thomas at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship with an eighth place finish in the 400 IM. Jordyn Davis (Cambridge, Wis.) earned a top-20 finish in the 100 backstroke after qualifying for the "B" final in prelims.
 
CSCAA NATIONAL INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
  • Folks provided the highlight of the weekend for St. Thomas thanks to his eighth place finish in the 400 IM. The lone Tommie to qualify for "A" finals over the weekend, Folks qualified with a time of 3:59.28 before shaving off a full second to finish in eighth with a time of 3:58.26.
  • Folks was also the first alternate in the 500 freestyle.
  • Davis was the only woman to compete for the Tommies at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, swimming in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Her best finish was in the 100 back, where she finished in 19th thanks to her time of 54.81.
  • Four other St. Thomas swimmers competed over the weekend: John Trosper (Clive, Iowa / Waukee), Lucas Becker (Carver, Minn. / Chanhassen), Tucker Holmes (Rochester, Minn. / John Marshall) and Jensen Richard (Rochester, Minn. / Century).
  • The quad of Trosper, Becker, Holmes and Folks finished 22nd in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.25. The group of Holmes, Richard, Trosper and Becker also finished 22nd in the 200 medley relay.
  • Richard swam the 25 freestyle and 100 breaststroke races.
  • Trosper competed in the 100 butterfly as an individual.
  • Holmes and Becker both swam in the 100 backstroke.
