Freshman Cam Burggrabe stopped 29 shots in 64 minutes in goal and helped kill off six of seven power plays for St. Thomas Men's Hockey's in Thursday night's 2-2 tie with host St. John's in MIAC play in St. Cloud.

The Johnnies grabbed the extra point in the conference standings as they scored in round five of the shootout then stopped the Purple's final try to claim the tie-breaker.

The teams played a scoreless 5:00 overtime and a had another scoreless 5:00 3x3 part of the shootout sessions. Then each team missed on their first four rounds of the traditional shootout. The Johnnies couldn't convert a power-play in overtime, and the Toms couldn't cash in on a power play in the 3x3 tie-breaker.

St. Thomas (13-4-5 overall, 7-1-5 MIAC), which never led, extended its unbeaten streak to 13 (9-0-4). Luke Radetic and Tanner Barnes scored the St. Thomas goals.

The Tommie defense had held 15 of 22 opponents to two or less goals. Burggrabe remained unbeaten on the season (9-0-4).

The teams close the weekend series Friday night in Mendota Heights. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.

St. Thomas' four hockey and basketball teams remain unbeaten since January 1 in their 45 games played (40-0-5).
