Women's Hockey march on to March

Two games in 24 hours? No problem.
Facing a team unbeaten over its last 13 games? No problem.
Playing on the road and staring at a 2-0 deficit in the second period? No problem.
Playing more than 72 minutes? No problem.
Having a freshman who hasn't scored a goal in 12 games make the clutch offensive play? Why not?
Suddenly, the fourth-place Tommie Women's Hockey has found its groove. Fourth-seed UST followed up Friday night's 6-1 home win over Hamline with Saturday afternoon's 3-2 overtime defeat of top-seed Gustavus in St. Peter.
That's a 5-0-1 record in the last 15 days and a date in the Sat. March 4 afternoon playoff finals at second-seed Augsburg for Coach Tom Palkowski's team.
The Tommies (13-10-4) are looking to win the playoff title and reach the NCAA playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
Freshman Rachel Werdin scored 12:24 into sudden-death overtime. It was her fifth goal of the season -- and first goal in six weeks -- assisted by the team's two seniors, Hannah Bird and Kathryn Larson.
UST goalie Kenzie Torpy stopped 36 of 38 shots incuding all 20 in the third period and overtime.
Becca Zarembinski and Anna Williams scored second-period goals to erase a 2-0 Gustie lead.
Leah Schawartzman added two assists and has scored a point in 14 of her last 16 games.
