11/1/2017 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
No. 5-ranked Tommie Men's Soccer capitalized on a man advantage and scored three goals in a late span of 13:29 on the clock to top Hamline 3-0 under cold, flurry-filled skies at UST's South Field.
The Tommies (18-1) ran their season win streak to 15 and their home-field win streak to 14. They will host Saturday's MIAC playoff championship match Saturday at 1 p.m. against Macalester. It's a rematch of a September game at Macalester the Toms won late in the second overtime.
Junior Aidan Hogan has his 11th shutout of the season and 22nd of his career. The Toms have not allowed a goal in the last 591 minutes on the clock.
After a Hamline player was assessed a red card in the 67th minute, St. Thomas broke a 0-0 tie in the 72nd minute on Pierce Erickson's goal off an assist by Will Kidd.
Tyler Oliver converted in the 77th minute for a 2-0 lead, assisted by Justin Oliver and Connor Young.
UST closed the scoring in the 87th minute as Christian Elliehausen scored off a dish from Shae Bottum.
