Senior Justin Oliver scored the tying and go-ahead goals in the 50th and 66th minutes -- his 14th and 15th of the season -- to ignite the top-seed Tommie Men's Soccer team in Saturday's 5-2 win over No. 3-seed Macalester in the MIAC Playoff championship game at UST's South Field.
The game included an amazing six second-half goals, five by St. Thomas, on just 11 shots on goal.
The No. 5-ranked Tommies (19-1) have won 16 in a row this season and 29 of their last 32 games. They also have won 15 in a row at home, and 14 straight aganst MIAC opponents. They claimed their second consecutive conference playoff crown.
Tommie coach Jon Lowery's team will learn its NCAA playoff assignment on Monday but likely will be home next weekend.
Aidan Hogan had five saves and improved to 19-1 this season in the nets. Kevin Van Lieshout, Christian Elliehausen and Pierce Erickson scored goals. Alex Schnobrich had two assists and Erickson, Shae Bottum and Jonathan Acevedo each added an assist.
UST had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks and a 13-10 advantage in shots.
