Softball runs win streak to 17

No. 20-ranked St. Thomas pushed its winning streak to 17 with Sunday's 11-0, 5-1 road sweep at St. Mary's. The Toms (19-3 overall, 6-0 MIAC) slapped 24 hits on the day.
Freshman Kierstin Anderson-Glass pitched 7 2-3 shutout innings on the afternoon with six strikeouts, one walk and three hits allowed. At the plate, she also went 4-for-8 with three RBI on the day to improve her batting average in conference games to .667. She is hitting .322 with 24 hits in UST's 17-game winning streak.
Chase Shortly had a three-run homer and a two-run double in game one. Melissa Barry went 4-for-7 with two runs scored.
The Tommies are 8-0 over the last nine days and outscored opponents 52-5.
St. Thomas plays a doubleheader Tuesday at nationally-ranked St. Catherine (3:30 p.m.).
