Softball falls in game two to Omaha

Cook homers as Tommies fall in conference series matchup
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas softball dropped game two of its Summit League series to Omaha, 10-2, Saturday afternoon at South Field. The Mavericks used a sixth-run fourth inning to pull away and secure the series win.
Omaha (26-7, 8-0 Summit League) struck early with runs in each of the first two innings before breaking the game open in the fourth. The Mavericks added two more runs in the sixth to cap their 10-run performance.
St. Thomas (24-12, 5-3) finished with six hits and committed one error in the contest.
Ella Cook provided the highlight for the Tommies, launching a solo home run in the sixth inning for her team's second run of the game. It was Cook's 10th home run of the season.
The Tommies first got on the board in the third inning, pushing across a run to cut into Omaha's early lead on a RBI single from Laken Lienhard to score Avery Wukawitz.
Ava Kleinfeldt got the start in the circle, while Mya Tautges also saw action in relief.

The Tommies will look to bounce back as they continue Summit League play tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. at South Field.
