Softball drops game one to Omaha, 4-0

Game two moved to 12:00 p.m. Saturday
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas softball fell to Omaha, 4-0, in the opening game of a key Summit League series Friday afternoon at South Field. The matchup featured the league's top two teams, as first-place Omaha (25-7, 7-0 Summit League) used a four-run fourth inning to secure a win over second-place St. Thomas (24-11, 5-2).
Ella Cook went the distance in the circle for the Tommies, delivering a strong performance outside of the decisive fourth inning. She allowed four runs on six hits, struck out hour, and walked six across 7.0 innings. Four of Omaha's hits and one walk came during the fourth-inning rally.
Omaha pitcher Maddia Grof, the reigning Summit League Pitcher of the Year, threw a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts.
The Tommies were limited to two hits on the day, singles from Abbi Stierlen in the fourth inning and Kameron Monson in the seventh. Laken Lienhard and Monson each added a walk.
Neither team committed an error defensively.

Game two of the series has been moved up one hour due to expected weather. First pitch is now scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Saturday at South Field.
