Men's Soccer claims first solo MIAC title in 25 seasons

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Mark Heydt did it again. The senior made a long run into the box and buried the game's only score on Tuesday afternoon as the No. 6-ranked Tommies stayed unbeaten with a 1-0 road win at Carleton.
St. Thomas (14-0-3 overall, 7-0-2 MIAC) won its first solo conference men's soccer title since 1991. The Tommies' only other conference crown was a co-championship with Concordia in 1995.
St. Thomas recorded its 13th shutout of the season, including a current MIAC streak of eight games covering 758 consecutive minutes.
Heydt started the week tied for the conference lead in scoring. He now has seven goals and seven assists in 17 games. St. Thomas is 16-2-1 in games on his career when Heydt scores a goal or an assist.
Coach Jon Lowery's Tommies finish the regular season Saturday at home (3:30 p.m.) against Augsburg looking to close out a rare unbeaten regular season.
