Momentum turns, M.Soccer falls to Jackets

Brett Day scored unassisted in the 19th minute, but the St. Thomas men's soccer team (4-2-1) dropped a 3-1 decision to UW-Superior (5-2) in Monday's non-conference action on UST's South Field.
The Yellowjackets, who have won four in a row, tied the game with a penalty-kick goal in the 54th minute. Superior went ahead to stay on Ryan Linsmayer's long shot in the 58th minute, and added an insurance goal in the 84th minute.
UST's Jace Leiferman had two point-blank saves in the first half and closed with four on the game. St. Thomas had a 9-2 advantage on corner kicks and a 22-13 advantage in shots.
The Tommies play at Viterbo on Wednesday (4 p.m.) and are home for an MIAC game Saturday (1 p.m.) against Augsburg.
