Men’s Soccer comes up empty against North Carolina

The Tar Heels scored four in the final 45 minutes
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Tommie Men's Soccer (6-3-3, 1-1-0) could not put an end to the North Carolina Tar Heels (7-1-4, 1-0-4 ACC) seven game unbeaten streak despite a scoreless first half on Saturday night at Dorrance Field. The Tar Heels represented the best opponent on the Tommies' 2025 schedule having ranked 18th in the RPI coming into the contest.
The Toms have one more non-conference game left on the slate, a bout on the road with Green Bay (4-5-1). After Saturday's loss to UNC, the Toms are a program-best 5-2-3 in non-con play.
Game Summary
First Half
-No goals for either side in the first 45. Moritz Krenc made a pair of saves to keep the contest level while his side failed to place a shot on goal.
-Yanis Lakhlifi received his third yellow card of the season in the 22nd minute.
Second Half
-Gabriel Verona earned a booking shortly into the second frame in the 49th minute, the final card of the contest.
-The Toms could hold off the talented Tar Heels for only so long before they broke through at 55:04, 55:41, and 61:22. They added an insurance tally in the 71st minute to open up a four goal lead.
