First-place Hamline scored early and often in Friday night's 6-0 home win over St. Thomas in MIAC men's hockey play at the Fairgrounds Coliseum.
The Pipers (10-3-3 overall, 5-0-2) scored two goals in a 70-second span midway through the first period. Hamline added two goals in the second and two more in the third period.
HU's Chris Berenguer had two goals and one assist and Beau Christian stopped 30 shots in the shutout.
The Tommies (10-8, 5-4), who used two goalies, had played 22 games without being shutout by a conference opponent.
The teams play again Saturday at 8 p.m. on UST's home ice in Mendota Heights.
