at Gustavus (W), January 17, 2009

Tommie goalie Lauren Bradel stopped 37 shots but the No. 1-ranked Gusties (9-1-3 overall, 6-0-2 MIAC) scored an even-strength goal midway through period two and took a 1-0 win over visiting St. Thomas (9-3-1, 6-1-1) in MIAC women's hockey play Saturday afternoon in St. Peter.

Laura Hillman scored the game's only goal at 11:27 of the second. GAC got three points on the weekend series, including Friday's 1-1 tie. The Gustes outshot UST 37-12 on the game and 70-27 on the series.

UST has allowed three goals in the last three games, all to No. 1-ranked teams, and went 1-1-1 in that span. Bradel was in goal for all 185 minutes of those games and stopped 95 of 98 shots, and the Toms killed off all 14 power plays their foes' attempted. Bradel's 7-3-1 season record includes two 1-0 losses.

St. Thomas held the Gusties to 0-for-3 on their power play on the game and 0-for-9 on the weekend.

The Toms drop one-half game behind Gustavus with 10 games left in the conference race. UST plays two games next weekend at Concordia-Moorhead.
