Robert's 2023-24 sports assignments: Men's Soccer, Softball

Robert Zelesnikar joins the St. Thomas Athletic Training staff for his 10th season in 2023. Zelesnikar serves as a Certified Athletic Trainer, working specifically with men’s soccer and softball. He, along with the entire UST Athletic Training Staff, provides services for UST athletes via Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) and its partnership with the university.
Zelesnikar comes to St. Thomas from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he was the lead basketball athletic trainer. He began his time with IMG in January of 2012 before landing in St. Paul in August of 2014.
In his time with IMG, Zelesnikar worked with 70 high school student-athletes from all over the world and headed the NBA Pre-Draft athletic training program, where he worked with 15 total NBA Draft selections in the 2012, 2013, and 2014 drafts.
In all, Zelesnikar worked with athletes from 80 different countries ranging from age six to professionals and Olympians. He also served as a presenter at numerous sports medicine conferences held on IMG’s campus, as well as earned the “Ascender Award” for Athletic and Personal Development.
Prior to his time at IMG, Robert earned his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., in 2011.
A native of Minneapolis, Zelesnikar graduated from De La Salle High School in 2007.
Robert currently resides in Richfield, Minn. with his wife, Laura and cat, Petey.
