Mitchell is the son of Joseph Jr. and Laquita Mitchell and has three siblings: Malachi, Judah and Kash. His great uncle, Bobby Mitchell, played in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins from 1958–68. A member of the B Honor Roll, Mitchell plans to major in engineering with a minor in sports medicine at St. Thomas.
