St. Thomas Men’s Basketball honored by NABC for academic success

Four Tommies land on Honors Court, team recognized with NABC Team Academic Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- St. Thomas men's basketball continued its tradition of excellence on the court and in the classroom, earning the 2025-26 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Award while four Tommies were named to the NABC Honors Court.
Redshirt junior Carter Bjerke (Financial Management) and redshirt sophomores Ben Oosterbaan (Financial Management), Adam Tauer (Mechanical Engineering) and Hayden Tibbits (Financial Management) each earned NABC Honors Court recognition for their academic achievement.
The NABC Team Academic Award recognizes programs that achieve a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year. The NABC Honors Court recognizes junior, senior and graduate student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The honors continue a strong tradition of academic success for the Tommies under head coach Johnny Tauer, highlighting the program's commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom.
The NABC presents its annual academic awards to recognize men's basketball teams and student-athletes from all levels of college basketball who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the classroom.
" College basketball student-athletes do incredible things on the court, but their achievements in the classroom are equally worthy of celebration," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is one of the NABC's core values, and the hundreds of programs and thousands of athletes represented on these awards reinforce the commitment to academic success that exists across all levels of our sport."
