Summit League releases 2026-27 conference schedule

Men’s Basketball starts league contests Jan. 7 versus NDSU at home
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- St. Thomas men's basketball's full 2026-27 schedule continues to be unveiled as the Summit League released its conference schedule on Thursday. The Tommies start league play at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena Jan. 7 against reigning Summit League champion North Dakota State.
St. Thomas continues its league-opening home stand Jan. 10 against North Dakota before closing the stand Jan. 16 against Omaha in St. Paul. St. Thomas makes its first road trip of the New Year Jan. 21 at Oral Roberts and Jan. 23 at Kansas City.
The Purple have a four-game stretch against the Dakota schools, starting Jan. 28 against South Dakota State and Jan. 30 versus South Dakota, both at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, followed by a trip Feb. 4 to Grand Forks, N.D., to face North Dakota and Feb. 6 in Fargo, N.D., against North Dakota State. The Tommies close the season series against Omaha in Omaha, Neb., on Feb. 13.
The final four games of the season begin Feb. 18 against Kansas City and Feb. 21 against Oral Roberts in St. Paul, before traveling to South Dakota on Feb. 25 and South Dakota State on Feb. 27 to close the regular season. The 2027 Summit League Championship will be held March 4-7 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Tommies made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament during its first season of eligibility in 2025-26, earning a bid to the National Invitational Tournament. St. Thomas tied the program's Division I single-season record of 24 wins, its third straight season with at least 20 wins and its fourth season with at least 19. The Purple advanced to the Summit League Semifinal for the fourth consecutive season, including the second straight season as the No. 2 seed.
Head Coach Johnny Tauer enters his 16th season as head coach of St. Thomas men's basketball after becoming the fastest to reach 300 careers wins in program history.
The full 2026-27 non-conference schedule, along with all game times, will be released at a later date. St. Thomas previously announced a Nov. 6 matchup at Minnesota while the three games of the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic were announced. The Tommies begin the tournament against the host UNC Wilmington on Nov. 25, followed by Liberty on Nov. 27 and Princeton on Nov. 28.
