Tommies return to O'Shaughnessy Stadium, host Northern Michigan

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas Tommies (1-1, 0-0 PFL) will return to O'Shaughnessy Stadium for its third game of 2026. The Tommies will host Northern Michigan University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.
GAMEDAY CENTRAL
TICKETS: Tickets for Saturday's contest can be purchased on tommiesports.com/tickets. Students can also claim their tickets here. Fans will need to download tickets to their digital wallets in advance, and gates will open one hour prior to kickoff.
ON CAMPUS: The St. Thomas volleyball team will host the University of Miami on Saturday, September 12. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in Schoenecker Arena. This will mark the first time the Tommies have officially hosted a Power 4 opponent on campus. Like St. Thomas, Miami qualified for the 2025 NCAA Tournament, falling to Kansas in the second round.

ST. THOMAS: St. Thomas battled in a 62-26 loss to #8/9 North Dakota, though several Tommies recorded career firsts in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Minnesota native Malachi Boadi-Aboagye recorded the first interception of his collegiate career, returning it 74 yards for a record-breaking pick-six. Sophomore quarterback Nick Peipert also made his collegiate debut, throwing for 111 yards and one touchdown.
NORTHERN MICHIGAN: Northern Michigan is 0-2 to start the 2026 season with losses to MSU-Moorhead and Tiffin on its resume. The Wildcats fell 41-19 in their season opener at MSU-Moorhead before dropping their first home game by a final score of 35-7 this past weekend.
KEY STORYLINES:
CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE: This will be the second meeting between St. Thomas and Northern Michigan. The first occurred last season, when two late drives from Andy Peters secured a 20-7 victory for the Tommies. St. Thomas leads the all-time series 1-0 and is 7-9 in the DI era against scholarship programs.
PICK, STRIP, REPEAT: St. Thomas' defense was takeaway happy with two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on Saturday. The last time the Tommies forced at least one fumble, recovered one fumble and tallied one interception was against Presbyterian in 2025. St. Thomas forced two fumbles, recovered one, and recorded an interception in the 23-9 loss. When was the last time St. Thomas did it against a nonconference opponent? Black Hills State in 2024. The Tommies forced two fumbles, recovered one and tallied two interceptions in that victory.
