Tommies come up short in game two vs. Kansas

LAWRENCE, KANSAS- It was a dreary day for the University of St. Thomas baseball team. The Tommies looked to overcome the stormy weather to beat the Kansas Jayhawks in the second of a four-game series. St. Thomas came up short, falling by a final score of 11-4.
Scoring Summary:
The Tommies struck first once again, plating two in the bottom of the first. Tanner Recchio led the game off with a single, advanced to second on the Joe Roder walk. Both came around to score on Matthew Maulik's double down the left field line.
Kansas then plated five of their own in the bottom of the first to take a 5-2 lead.
St. Thomas was able to plate two runs in the top of the fifth off RBI singles from Bond and Maulik, cutting the defecate to one.
The Jayhawks pushed four runs across in the sixth to increase their lead to 9-4. They then added one more in seventh to go up 10-4.
Zan Von Schlegell added one back for the Tommies after his sac fly scored Adam Puder.
Kansas then responded adding one in the bottom of the eighth.
Up Next
The Tommies will be back in action for the three more games against the Jayhawks March 7-8.
