Ava Kleinfeldt earned the 4-1 win without an earned run allowed
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Thomas softball (20-7, 2-0) has reached the 20-win mark in just 27 games, a program record after a 4-1 conference victory over the Kansas City Roos on Saturday afternoon at the Urban Youth Academy. Ava Kleinfeldt tossed a complete game in the 4-1 win.
The Tommies broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third, plating all four of their runs on pair of timely hits and disciplined at-bats. St. Thomas drew five walks in the game and finished with six hits. Cassidy Carby, Kameron Monson, and Morgan Klein each earned and RBI in the frame.
Avery Wukawitz set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
That one offensive burst was enough support for Ava Kleinfeldt, who delivered a complete game gem. The sophomore allowed just four hits and one unearned run across seven innings, striking out two while walking one.
The Roos managed their only run in the fifth inning after a Tommie error. They left four runners on base throughout the contest.
