St. Thomas football announces complete 2026 signing class

ST. PAUL, MINN. – It's been a busy offseason for the University of St. Thomas football team and head coach Glenn Caruso. After another impressive season of Division I play, the Tommies announced their full 2026 signing class Wednesday afternoon. The class includes 38 total players, 28 high school signees and 10 transfers.

Trent Buda (Linebacker; Lincoln, Neb. / Lincoln Southwest / Iowa western Community College)
A defensive back from Lincoln, Nebraska, Buda joins the Tommies after two seasons at Iowa Western. As a defensive back, Buda tallied 13.0 tackles in seven games in 2025, including a season high 5.0 on November 15. Buda additionally helped the Reivers win their fourth NJCAA National Championship in 2025 and was a member of the national runner up team in 2024
Bryan Domino (Wide Receiver; Richmond, Texas / Fort Bend Christian / Indiana State / UCONN)
Domino will join St. Thomas after spending the 2025 season at Indiana State. In his lone season with the Sycamores, Domino recorded 18 receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown, averaging 6.28 yards per catch and 9.42 yards per game. Prior to his collegiate football days, Domino was a standout receiver at Fort Bend Christian, racking up over 1100 receiving yards both his junior and senior seasons.
Mordecai Ford (Running Back; Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North / Rowan)
Ford joins the Tommies after an outstanding single season with the Rowan Owls. As a freshman, Ford appeared in 11 games for the Owls and earned NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors three separate times. He broke the program record for longest rushing touchdown in mid-October and recorded two 100+ rushing performances during his freshman campaign. A kick returner, Ford was named the NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week once and racked up 415 kick return yards during the season.
James Kingsbury (Linebacker; Chicago, Ill. / Saint Rita of Cascia / Ave Maria)
A standout linebacker from Chicago, Illinois, Kingsbury comes to St. Thomas after a season at Ave Maria. In his one season with the Gyrenes, he recorded 91 tackles, including two sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup. Kingsbury recorded a season and career high 13 tackles in back-to-back games to close the season and recorded 10+ tackles in five games in 2025. He led all true freshman in the NAIA in total tackles and tackles per game in 2025 and earned Second Team All-Conference honors.
Noah Long (Running Back; Liberty Hill, Texas / Liberty Hill / Valparaiso)
Long will jump from one PFL team to another, as he joins the Tommies after spending the 2024 and 2025 seasons at Valparaiso. A two-time member of the PFL honor roll, Long appeared in seven games and made three starts as a running back in 2025. He totaled 310 rushing yards on 61 carries plus six catches for 68 yards. Long recorded a season and career-high 92 rushing yards on 18 carries in the Beacons final game of the regular season versus Stetson. His grandfather, William Long, played quarterback at Abilene Christian University.
Anthony Policare (Quarterback; Endwell, New York / Maine-Endwell / Buffalo)
A quarterback from Endwell, New York, Policare travels to St. Thomas after spending the last three seasons at Buffalo University. In his three seasons with the Bulls, Policare primarily worked out with the scout teams after redshirting in 2023 to preserve a season of eligibility. His father, Tony, played football at Buffalo in the early 90s, and his grandfather, also Tony, wrestled at Buffalo and is a member of the UB Athletics Hall of Fame.
Jackson Powers (Defensive Back; Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove / South Dakota State / Minnesota)
One of the top recruits in Minnesota from the class of 2022, Powers joins the Tommies after stops at Minnesota and South Dakota State. Prior to his time with the Gophers and Jackrabbits, Powers was a star at Maple Grove, leading the Crimson to the 2022 6A State Championship. He was a semifinalist for the Amani Hooker Award, given to the top defensive back in the state of Minnesota, and recorded 48 tackles, four tackles for loss, four interceptions and seven pass breakups as a senior in 2022.
Sam Shaughnessy (Quarterback; Blaine, Minn. / Blaine / Air Force)
Shaughnessy returns to Minnesota and O'Shaughnessy Stadium after spending 2025 at Air Force, where he redshirted to preserve a season of eligibility. During his prep career, Shaughnessy was one of the top quarterbacks in the state and was named the Metro North district MVP following the 2024 season. He earned All-State honors following his senior season and graduated as Blaine's program record holder in single-season and career rushing yards. Shaughnessy was also a Mr. Football finalist after accumulating 2781 yards of total offense.
Langston Taylor (Defensive Back; Pasadena, Calif. / Charter Oaks / Wagner)
Taylor joins St. Thomas' defensive core after two seasons at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. In three seasons with the Seahawks, Taylor appeared in two games as a member of the defensive back unit. He helped Wagner to its best overall record in five seasons in 2025, as the Seahawks went 5-7 overall and 4-3 in NEC play.
Daniel Theiss (Offensive Line; Aurora, Ill. / St. Francis / Valparaiso)
Like his teammate Long, Theiss will travel from Indiana to Minnesota after spending the last two seasons at Valparaiso. As a redshirt freshman, Theiss saw action in 10 games for the Beacons in 2025 with nine starts. As an offensive lineman at St. Francis, Theiss was a two-year varsity letter winner and led his team to the state semifinals in both 2022 and 2023. Theiss' father, Chris, played football at Princeton in the early 90s.

Joseph Chase (Offensive Line; Wilmette, Ill. / Saint Patrick)
Chase travels from Illinois to Minnesota to join the St. Thomas roster in 2025. A multi-sport athlete, Chase excelled at both football and track and field, receiving Athlete of the Week honors multiple times for his performances.
Zebulon Johnson (Offensive Line; Florissant, Mo. / Cardinal Ritter College Prep)
Johnson committed to the Tommies in September and will join St. Thomas after a strong prep career at Cardinal Ritter College Prep. During Johnson's prep career, Cardinal Ritter won state championships in 2022 and 2023 and posted .500+ records in 2024 and 2025.
Josh Miller (Offensive Line; West Des Moines, Iowa / Dowling Catholic)
Miller also travels to Minnesota from a Midwest state, joining the Tommies after a solid prep career at Dowling Catholic in Des Moines, Iowa. A 6'3 offensive lineman, Miller anchored the Dowling Catholic offense, leading them to the 2025 5A State Title.
Javaris Morgan (Running Back; Ankeny, Iowa / Ankeny Centennial)
A 5'9 running back, Morgan joins St. Thomas after an outstanding prep career at Ankeny Centennial. As a senior in 2025, Morgan earned a slew of accolades, including First Team All-State, and closed the season with nearly 1600 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns. He was voted Centennial's Offensive MVP at the conclusion of the season and ranked top-5 in Class 5A in yards per carry, rushing touchdowns and all-purpose yards.
Keefer Baxter (Wide Receiver; Northfield, Minn. / New Trier Township)
Baxter is set to join the Tommies after leading New Trier to its first playoff appearance since 2021. As a senior in 2025, Baxter helped the Trevians to their first winning record in three seasons, tallying 610 receiving yards on 30 receptions. He additionally scored seven touchdowns throughout the 2025 season
Joseph Mapson (Wide Receiver; Andover, Minn. / Andover)
Mapson made plenty of headlines during high school. A 6'1 athlete, Mapson excelled as the Huskies quarterback in 2025, earning First Team All-District honors for his play. He was voted to the Minnesota All-Star team and was named the North Metro Offensive Player of the Year.
Hayden Anderson (Tight End; Mount Horeb, Wis. / Mount Horeb)
A tight end from Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, Anderson brings high level experience to the Tommies tight end core. During his prep career, he helped Mount Horeb win five consecutive conference championships while earning All-State and All-Region honors. Following his senior campaign, Anderson was a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection after racking up 681 receiving yards on 51 receptions with 11 touchdowns.
Gavin Matejko (Tight End; Saint Charles, Ill. / St. Charles East)
Matejko is one of four tight ends set to join St. Thomas in 2026. At 6'4, Matejko was a top receiver at St. Charles East, recording multiple 100+ receiving yard performances throughout his senior season.
Glendon Thompson (Tight End; Barron, Wis. / Barron)
A true jack of all trades, Thompson brings a wealth of experience to the Tommie roster. Thompson played several positions during his prep career, including quarterback, linebacker and tight end. He will join St. Thomas' tight end unit in 2026 after earning First and Second Team All-Conference honors at Barron.
Chase Williamson (Tight End; Highwood, Ill. / Loyola Academy)
Like his fellow tight ends, Williamson adds depth and talent to the Tommies tight end unit. A three-time state champion, Williamson excelled both on the field and in the classroom with Loyola Academy. He enters his second semester of high school sporting a 3.7 GPA.
Will Santiago (Quarterback; Palatine, Ill. / Palatine)
Santiago travels from Illinois to Minnesota to compete for the Tommies QB job. A 6'2 quarterback, Santiago put up impressive numbers in 2025 before being sidelined for the final month of the season. Prior to his injury, Santiago was voted the MSL West Player of the Week and threw for 200+ yards multiple times.
Isaac Ziegler (Quarterback; Windsor, Wis. / DeForest)
Ziegler is one of two quarterbacks who signed with St. Thomas during the early signing period in December. At 6'3, Ziegler was voted to the DeForest Leadership Team as a sophomore and earned multiple Player of the Game awards during his prep career. He additionally earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors as a junior and was the No. 7 ranked quarterback in the state of Wisconsin.
Peyton Allen (Defensive Line; Sartell, Minn. / Sartell)
A top recruit from the state of Minnesota, Allen starred for both the Sartell football and wrestling teams during his prep career. As a senior, Allen was named to the Minnesota Football Coaches Association All-Star Team and earned multiple postseason awards from both the conference and region.
Henry Bern (Defensive Line Woodbury, Minn. / East Ridge)
A two-way player for East Ridge, Bern travels to St. Paul after earning multiple accolades as a running back and defensive lineman. At 6'2, the incoming freshman will join the Tommies defensive line unit and was voted a team captain prior to the 2025 high school season. Off the field, Bern is a national champion power lifter.
Eli Valencia (Defensive Line; Chicago, Ill. / Saint Patrick)
Valencia joins his teammate Joseph Chase as a member of the Tommies roster 2026. A four-year varsity player, Valencia earned a slew of honors during his prep career, including the 2025 Saint Patrick Lineman of the Year.
Malik Quadri (Defensive Line; Farmington, Minn. / Apple Valley)
A multi-sport athlete at Apple Valley, Quadri travels from Farmington to St. Paul to join St. Thomas' roster. Quadri earned All-District honors three times in his prep football career and was also a standout wrestler for Apply Valley.
Brooks Borman (Linebacker; Mendota Heights, Minn. / St. Thomas Academy)
Borman brings high level experience to the Tommie roster, having been a part of multiple state tournament teams at St. Thomas Academy. In his senior season, Borman was credited with 92 total tackles, averaging 3.4 tackles per game, and four sacks.
Mason Helfmann (Linebacker; St. Louis Park, Minn. / St. Louis Park)
Helfmann will bring depth to St. Thomas' linebacker core. He played both running back and linebacker for St. Louis Park during his prep career and started playing football when he was in third grade. He lists scoring four touchdowns in one game as the proudest moment of his football career.
Sam McGill (Linebacker; Albert Lea, Minn. / Albert Lea)
McGill took the state by storm in 2025 and will join St. Thomas after an outstanding prep career at Albert Lea. McGill was named to the North Talk All-State Team and earned All-District Most Valuable Defensive Linemen and All-District Most Valuable Defensive player honors at the conclusion of the season. McGill was also named to the Academic All-State and Minnesota All-Star football teams.
Jaden Richberg (Linebacker; Blue Springs, Mo. / Blue Springs South)
Richberg travels from Missouri to Minnesota to join the Tommies. A former team captain for Blue Springs South, Richberg earned First Team All-State, All-District and All-Conference honors and was also named First Team Academic All-State for his performance in the classroom.
Izaiah Scheftgen (Linebacker; Saukville, Wis. / Port Washington)
Scheftgen brings plenty of experience to St. Paul after his prep career at Port Washington. A two-time unanimous First Team All-Conference honoree, Scheftgen was voted the conference Linebacker of the Year and earned WFCA All-Region honors for his play.
Jamal Smith (Linebacker; Fridley, Minn. / Spring Lake Park)
Smith commits to St. Thomas after a historic season for Spring Lake Park football. The current senior helped the Panthers claim the AAAAA State Championship after completing a perfect 13-0 season. As a member of the team, Smith earned All-Conference and All-District honors for his play after closing the season with 58 total tackles, including eight sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
Aziz Ashour (Defensive Back; Glendale, Wis. / Nicolet)
A two-way starter, Ashour joins St. Thomas' defensive back unit after a strong prep career at Nicolet. As a starting wide receiver and cornerback, Ashour earned All-Conference honors and Nicolet High School's Iron Knight Award. As a kicker, he was named Mike Farley's Top Kicking Prospect & Midwest Varsity Kick Off Champion and additionally was named one of the top pass catchers in Wisconsin by PRZ WI Showcase. Ashour was also recognized at the 2025 WFCA Combine.
Ian Burris (Chicago, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep)
Burris brings championship experience to St. Paul, Minnesota after helping Saint Ignatius win its second straight state championship in 2025. Burris recorded a key interception in the championship game, helping Saint Ignatius win the Prep Bowl by a final score of 40-12.
Jacob Hartman (Defensive Back; Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest)
Hartman hops across the river, traveling from Minneapolis to join the Tommies roster in 2026. The defensive back earned a slew of honors following the 2025 season and was invited to participate in the Minnesota All-Star Game at US Bank Stadium. A four-year varsity starter, Hartman was voted team captain as a sophomore and earned All-Conference and All-District honors.
Noah Kalipe (Defensive Back; Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake)
A 5'11 defensive back from Prior Lake, Kalipe joins St. Thomas after an outstanding senior season for the Lakers. Kalipe tallied 60 tackles with three pass breakups, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery.
Vince Prikos (Defensive Back; Glenview, Ill. / Glenbrook South)
A 6'1 defensive back, Prikos earned multiple honors during his prep career at Glenbrook South. He earned All-Conference honors for his play at free safety, recording 44 tackles, eight pass breakups, four tackles for loss and one touchdown as a senior.
Landen Sturges (Kicker/Punter; Owatonna, Minn. / Owatonna)
A highly touted kicker from Owatonna, Sturges received a handful of awards and broke several program records during his prep career. Following his senior season, Sturges was named the Huskies Special Teams player of the year and was named a Big 9 Scholar Athlete and All-District Honorable Mention. He graduated as the program record holder in average punt yards.

Eli Valencia (Defensive Line; Chicago, Ill. / Saint Patrick)
Valencia joins his teammate Joseph Chase as a member of the Tommies roster 2026. A four-year varsity player, Valencia earned a slew of honors during his prep career, including the 2025 Saint Patrick Lineman of the Year.
Malik Quadri (Defensive Line; Farmington, Minn. / Apple Valley)
A multi-sport athlete at Apple Valley, Quadri travels from Farmington to St. Paul to join St. Thomas' roster. Quadri earned All-District honors three times in his prep football career and was also a standout wrestler for Apply Valley.
Brooks Borman (Linebacker; Mendota Heights, Minn. / St. Thomas Academy)
Borman brings high level experience to the Tommie roster, having been a part of multiple state tournament teams at St. Thomas Academy. In his senior season, Borman was credited with 92 total tackles, averaging 3.4 tackles per game, and four sacks.
Mason Helfmann (Linebacker; St. Louis Park, Minn. / St. Louis Park)
Helfmann will bring depth to St. Thomas' linebacker core. He played both running back and linebacker for St. Louis Park during his prep career and started playing football when he was in third grade. He lists scoring four touchdowns in one game as the proudest moment of his football career.
Sam McGill (Linebacker; Albert Lea, Minn. / Albert Lea)
McGill took the state by storm in 2025 and will join St. Thomas after an outstanding prep career at Albert Lea. McGill was named to the North Talk All-State Team and earned All-District Most Valuable Defensive Linemen and All-District Most Valuable Defensive player honors at the conclusion of the season. McGill was also named to the Academic All-State and Minnesota All-Star football teams.
Jaden Richberg (Linebacker; Blue Springs, Mo. / Blue Springs South)
Richberg travels from Missouri to Minnesota to join the Tommies. A former team captain for Blue Springs South, Richberg earned First Team All-State, All-District and All-Conference honors and was also named First Team Academic All-State for his performance in the classroom.
Izaiah Scheftgen (Linebacker; Saukville, Wis. / Port Washington)
Scheftgen brings plenty of experience to St. Paul after his prep career at Port Washington. A two-time unanimous First Team All-Conference honoree, Scheftgen was voted the conference Linebacker of the Year and earned WFCA All-Region honors for his play.
Jamal Smith (Linebacker; Fridley, Minn. / Spring Lake Park)
Smith commits to St. Thomas after a historic season for Spring Lake Park football. The current senior helped the Panthers claim the AAAAA State Championship after completing a perfect 13-0 season. As a member of the team, Smith earned All-Conference and All-District honors for his play after closing the season with 58 total tackles, including eight sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
Aziz Ashour (Defensive Back; Glendale, Wis. / Nicolet)
A two-way starter, Ashour joins St. Thomas' defensive back unit after a strong prep career at Nicolet. As a starting wide receiver and cornerback, Ashour earned All-Conference honors and Nicolet High School's Iron Knight Award. As a kicker, he was named Mike Farley's Top Kicking Prospect & Midwest Varsity Kick Off Champion and additionally was named one of the top pass catchers in Wisconsin by PRZ WI Showcase. Ashour was also recognized at the 2025 WFCA Combine.
Ian Burris (Chicago, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep)
Burris brings championship experience to St. Paul, Minnesota after helping Saint Ignatius win its second straight state championship in 2025. Burris recorded a key interception in the championship game, helping Saint Ignatius win the Prep Bowl by a final score of 40-12.
Jacob Hartman (Defensive Back; Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest)
Hartman hops across the river, traveling from Minneapolis to join the Tommies roster in 2026. The defensive back earned a slew of honors following the 2025 season and was invited to participate in the Minnesota All-Star Game at US Bank Stadium. A four-year varsity starter, Hartman was voted team captain as a sophomore and earned All-Conference and All-District honors.
Noah Kalipe (Defensive Back; Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake)
A 5'11 defensive back from Prior Lake, Kalipe joins St. Thomas after an outstanding senior season for the Lakers. Kalipe tallied 60 tackles with three pass breakups, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery.
Vince Prikos (Defensive Back; Glenview, Ill. / Glenbrook South)
A 6'1 defensive back, Prikos earned multiple honors during his prep career at Glenbrook South. He earned All-Conference honors for his play at free safety, recording 44 tackles, eight pass breakups, four tackles for loss and one touchdown as a senior.
Landen Sturges (Kicker/Punter; Owatonna, Minn. / Owatonna)
A highly touted kicker from Owatonna, Sturges received a handful of awards and broke several program records during his prep career. Following his senior season, Sturges was named the Huskies Special Teams player of the year and was named a Big 9 Scholar Athlete and All-District Honorable Mention. He graduated as the program record holder in average punt yards.
