RECAP
FIRST QUARTER: The first quarter was defined by defense, as the Tommies and Jackrabbits scored a combined 24 points in the opening 10 minutes of play. While South Dakota State led 15-9 at the end of the quarter, the offensive efforts of Jada Hood (St. Paul, Minn. / Roseville Area) kept St. Thomas within striking distance, as she scored five of the Tommies first quarter points.
SECOND QUARTER: It looked like the Jackrabbits were set to run away in the second quarter, as South Dakota State jumped out to a 28-18 lead by the 4:00 mark. However, St. Thomas made things interesting, as baskets from Abbey Vallance (Sydney, Australia / Tara Anglican School) and McCall helped the Tommies pull within seven at 28-21. However, the Jackrabbits closed the quarter on a 10-2 run and took a 38-23 halftime lead into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: Alyssa Sand (Albany, Minn. / Albany) paced the St. Thomas offense in the third quarter, eclipsing 10 points before the 2:00 mark. However, Sand alone couldn't keep the Tommies within 10 points of South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits outscored St. Thomas 25-15 in the third, extending their lead over the Tommies to 63-38 by the end of the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Like the game in Brookings, St. Thomas ran out of steam in the fourth quarter, despite the team's attempts to cut into the SDSU lead. The Jackrabbits outscored the Tommies 21-11 in the quarter, which was highlighted by three points from Addison Schliewe (Sheboygan Falls, Wis. / Sheboygan Falls). In the end, St. Thomas fell by a final score of 84-51.
