Women set three top 10 marks while men set two; Keller and 4x400m relay earn wins

MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Thomas indoor track & field team completed its regular season with two wins in addition to five top 10 program performances Friday afternoon at the Snowshoe Open in Minneapolis.

Brooke Hohenecker ran 7.68 in the 60 meters to take second in the prelims, finishing third in the final, as she moved from seventh to six in program history and now ranks 14th in the Summit League.

Zoey Hermel recorded a 5.49-meter long jump to place second and improve her 10th all-time ranking at St. Thomas, while Lauren Rott's 13.70-meter weight throw moves her up to second in program history, and ranks 34th in the NCAA Midwest and seventh in the league.

Olivia Keller claimed an event title in the long jump at 5.71 meters, and the 4x400 relay of Emmy Schulz, Malayh Metcalf, Ellie Moore and Maddie Heidvogel secured another victory in 4:08.95, as the Tommies totaled two event wins and seven top-three finishes.

MEN
Barak Barner highlighted the men's effort in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking 8.25 to place fourth in the prelims before finishing seventh in the final. He improved his top 10 program time to fifth in program history and slots 47th in the NCAA Midwest and 12th in the Summit League this season.

In the distance events, Casey Poppler delivered a runner-up finish in the mile, crossing in 4:12.10 to place himself seventh all-time at St. Thomas and 15th in the Summit League performance list this season.

The Tommies added four top-three finishes on the day.

QUOTABLES
Women's Head Coach Ashley Lucas:
"We had a decent tune up heading into the conference meet next week. We held a decent amount of ladies out, but that didn't hold back some of our performances highlighted by Lauren Rott in shot put and Brooke Hohenecker in the 60-meter dash. Now we solely turn our focus on the conference meet. Every year the Summit League gets stronger and deeper so we are truly going to need to fight for every point. That's what I want to see from the team: confidence, grit and fight."
