St. Thomas honors seniors with win over Omaha

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team found the perfect way to honor its seniors: with a win. The Tommies dominated in every facet of the game Saturday afternoon, downing Omaha 73-43 at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. With the victory, St. Thomas improved to 13-13 overall and 6-6 in Summit League play.

SCORING SUMMARY:
First Quarter: St. Thomas set the tone early, opening the game on a 7-2 run capped by a Hood three-pointer. The Tommies limited Omaha to just two field goals in the quarter, while Sand scored six early points in the paint. Laura Hauge (West St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) knocked down a late three to push the lead to double digits as St. Thomas closed the quarter ahead 17-7.
Second Quarter: The Tommies continued to apply pressure in the second, using a 10-2 run midway through the quarter to stretch the lead to as many as 18. Ludwig connected on a pair of three-pointers, while Savannah McGowan (Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale) and McCall provided energy off the bench. Omaha answered briefly with second-chance points, but St. Thomas carried a 36-20 advantage into halftime.
Third Quarter: St. Thomas put the game out of reach coming out of the locker room, opening the third quarter on a 15-4 run. Hood scored nine points in the period, including back-to-back layups in transition, while Feuerbach connected twice from beyond the arc. The Tommies shot nearly 70 percent in the quarter and entered the fourth leading 57-31.
Fourth Quarter: With the outcome largely decided, St. Thomas maintained its composure and continued to execute. Mikayla Werner (Hortonville, Wis. / Hortonville) scored inside and at the free-throw line as the Tommies pushed the lead to as many as 30. Omaha closed the game with a small run, but St. Thomas sealed the 30-point victory.

St. Thomas travels to North Dakota for its next Summit League contest, facing North Dakota State on Thursday, February 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Fargo, North Dakota.
QUICK HITS:
- Faith Feuerbach (Sycamore, Ill. / Sycamore) led all Tommies with 13 points on 5-6 shooting, including a 2-3 clip from behind the arc.
- Alyssa Sand (Albany, Minn. / Albany) did not record a double-double. She was, however, perfect. The sophomore scored 12 points on 6-6 shooting with seven rebounds, one block and three steals. She also became the first player in over a decade to record 60+ steals in a single season.
- Jada Hood (St. Paul, Minn. / Roseville Area) and Autumn McCall (Blaine, Minn. / Centennial) both added 12 points for St. Thomas, while Kammie Ludwig (Geneseo, Ill. / Geneseo) scored six points on senior day.
- The Tommies won their third consecutive game on Saturday, winning three games in a row for the first time since December.
- Of note: St. Thomas is now 2-0 since head coach Ruth Sinn announced her retirement on February 10, 2026.
