LAST TIME OUT:
ST. THOMAS:
Things didn't exactly go as planned in Clinton, South Carolina last weekend. Everything that could go wrong did for wrong for St. Thomas, which lost to Presbyterian by a final score of 55-21. It was the Tommies worse loss in PFL play by points margin since the 2023 season. However, there were some bright spots for St. Thomas. As a team, the Tommies rushed for 200+ yards for the first time since last season, though no rusher tallied more than 75 yards in the contest.

STETSON:  The Hatters fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in PFL on Saturday, falling to the Marist Red Foxes 28-14. After a scoreless first quarter, the Red Foxes outscored Stetson 14-7 in the second and 14-7 in the third, securing the 28-14 victory. Despite the 1-4 record, Stetson's schedule is nothing to laugh at. The Hatters opened the season at #3 South Dakota State and played #11 UC Davis in their final nonconference game of the season.

KEY STORYLINES:
THE SPECIAL TEAMS SPECIAL:
St. Thomas' special teams unit put together a special performance on Saturday, a bright spot for the Tommies on an otherwise dreary day. The duo of Eli Paulson (Ramsey, Minn. / Anoka) and Mordeci Ford (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) rushed for a combined 212 yards on kick returns in South Carolina. Paulson recorded a career-high 107 return yards, while Ford racked up 105.

NEVER HAVE WE EVER: Lost to the Stetson Hatters. St. Thomas is 5-0 all-time against this weekend's opponent and averages 37.0 points per game against Stetson. The Tommies have also seen several career and record-breaking performances against the Hatters, both at home and in DeLand. Former quarterback Andy Peters set a DI era record for single-game passing yards in DeLand last season, and former running back Hope Adebayo rushed for 197 yards in a win over Stetson in 2023.
