Head coach Katie Hanneman has released her team’s complete Fall schedule with four competitive tournaments on tap to begin the team’s first season while eligible for national competition.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Tommies are looking for another successful season after a second consecutive year of competition with at least one team and individual title. Coach Hanneman stressed that, "Much like last season, culture is of the upmost importance. We have a strong family unit which is essential to winning at the Division I level. We plan to continue this environment where winning is simply a byproduct of our daily process."
Year five's Fall schedule sees the Purple returning to a pair of highly competitive tournaments and a pair of novel competitions hosted by Power Four programs. Those first two tournaments will take place over three days, respectively, and the latter half will be two-day competitions. When asked about her team's schedule coach Hanneman expressed, "This is the best schedule we have had to date and I am confident will we see continued growth from this program."
First on the docket is the Badger Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at University Ridge Golf Course on Sunday, September 14 through Tuesday, September 16. St. Thomas competed in the Badger Invitational for the first time last Fall and placed ninth of 13 strong teams. The Delaware Blue Hens came away with the team victory 22 strokes above par across three rounds, the Toms finished 21 strokes back. The Purple placed higher than Big Ten squads, Iowa and Nebraska. Isabelle Lynch (who graduated after last season) led the way for the Tommies with a ninth-place finish four strokes above par.
Just three days later, St. Thomas will be back on the road for the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman at Furman University Golf Club on Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21. During their Lady Paladin debut last season, the Tommies came away with a ninth-place finish of the 13 teams in the field. Xavier came away with the overall win as the only team to finish below par (-1). The Toms came away 32 strokes behind the first-place squad. Kathryn VanArragon impressed in South Carolina with a seventh-place finish three strokes under par.
The back half of the Fall schedule starts with the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa at Finkbine Golf Course on Monday, September 29 and Tuesday, September 30. This is the first time that coach Hanneman's squad will compete at this event. The hosting Hawkeyes won the event last season by six strokes over Wisconsin. North Dakota State was the only Summit League team in last year's field and placed fifth, 15 strokes off the pace.
Tommie women's golf caps off its Fall with the Marilynn Smith Invitational hosted by Kansas at the Lawrence Country Club on Monday, October 6 and Tuesday, October 7. The Jayhawks won the tournament last season, 13 strokes clear of second place. There was no Summit League program in last season's field.
The Tommies' 2026 Spring Schedule will be released at a later date.
