The Tommies set for Wednesday contest against the Hawkeyes
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas baseball team is set for a midweek matchup against Iowa on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Tommies hosted South Dakota State in a Summit League weekend series. St. Thomas secured the series victory, defeating the Jackrabbits in games one and three of the series.
Remaining on top of the Summit League standings, St. Thomas holds a 13-4 record in conference play.
Next up for the Tommies
• St. Thomas baseball is set for a Wednesday night contest against Iowa in Iowa City.
• Iowa holds a 4-0 record over the Tommies.
• Last season, the Hawkeyes defeated St. Thomas by scores of 17-11 and 9-3.
2025 Schedule
The Tommies opened the month of April in St. Paul, welcoming Summit League opponent Northern Colorado. The Tommies are set to play seven games at home and eight on the road throughout April.
St. Thomas will play nine of its final 12 games at Koch Diamond. The nine-game home stretch includes opponents from three conferences: the Big Ten, Horizon League and Summit League.
The Tommies will be on the road in Greeley, Colo. for the final series of the 2025 season, playing Northern Colorado.

In his 16th season with St. Thomas, Chris Olean has totaled an overall record of 404-249-1 (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season. Olean hit the 400-win milestone against Northern Colorado on April 5.
Tommie Leaders
• Senior Joe Vos leads St. Thomas with a .353 avg., 1.022 OPS, .597 SLG%, 71 total bases and six home runs.
• Sophomore Tanner Recchio paces the Tommie offense in hits (47), runs (37), and stolen bases (23). Recchio leads the Summit League in stolen bases and runs scored.
• Walker Retz leads the Tommies with a 4.38 ERA, totaling 47 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. Marcus Kruzan holds a 6-0 record, leading the Summit League in wins.
Tommie Offense
• The St. Thomas offense has exploded this spring, totaling 248 runs in 33 games played. In 2024, the Tommies recorded 307 runs through 46 games.
• 10 Tommies have combined for 28 home runs so far this season.
• With a .303 team batting average, the Purple leads the conference. Three Tommies rank in the top 10 in the Summit League in batting average.
Look Back at 2024
Last season, St. Thomas won its first Summit League championship in the DI-era. The Tommies finished with a 22-24 overall record (16-10 Summit League).
St. Thomas Baseball earned eight honors on the 2024 All-Summit League Teams, including seven returners: Max Moris (First Team), Brigs Richartz (First Team), Jacob Mrosko (Second Team) Evan Esch (Second Team), Matthew Maulik (Second Team) Tanner Recchio (Second Team), and Joe Roder (Honorable Mention).

• Olean is a three-time NCAA DIII Region Coach of the Year and closed out its DIII era by winning championships in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and region en route to a national runner-up finish and 37-10 record.
• During the last 12 DIII seasons the Purple won eight MIAC Championships, capped by third-place national finishes in both 2012 and 2014, in addition to the runner-up finish in 2021.
• Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
