Tommies set for weekend series against the Jackrabbits
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas baseball team is set to host South Dakota State at Koch Diamond for a Summit League series. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Tommies were on the road at North Dakota State for a battle of the top two Summit League teams this past weekend.
Winning game one by a score of 7-1, the Tommies fell to the Bison in the final two games of the weekend. Remaining in first place, St. Thomas holds an 11-3 record in conference play.
Next up for the Tommies
• St. Thomas baseball is set for a home series this Thursday to Saturday, hosting South Dakota State.
• The Jackrabbits hold a 13-4 overall record against the Tommies, including a 3-0 record at Koch Diamond.
• St. Thomas earned the series victory over South Dakota State earlier this season, winning two of three games in March.

The Tommies opened the month of April in St. Paul, welcoming Summit League opponent Northern Colorado. The Tommies are set to play seven games at home and eight on the road throughout April.
St. Thomas will play nine of its final 12 games at Koch Diamond. The nine-game home stretch includes opponents from three conferences: the Big Ten, Horizon League and Summit League.
The Tommies will be on the road in Greeley, Colo. for the final series of the 2025 season, playing Northern Colorado.

In his 16th season with St. Thomas, Chris Olean has totaled an overall record of 402-248-1 (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season. Olean hit the 400-win milestone against Northern Colorado on April 5.

• Sophomore Tanner Recchio paces the Tommie offense in batting avg. (.361), hits (44), runs (33), and stolen bases (21).
• Senior Joe Vos leads St. Thomas with a 1.056 OPS, .623 SLG%, 66 total bases and six home runs.
• Walker Retz leads the Tommies with a 4.63 ERA, totaling 38 strikeouts in 44.2 innings. Marcus Kruzan holds a 6-0 record, leading the Summit League in wins.
Tommie Offense
• The St. Thomas offense has exploded this spring, totaling 229 runs in 30 games played. In 2024, the Tommies recorded 307 runs through 46 games.
• 10 Tommies have combined for 25 home runs to start the season.
• With a .304 team batting average, the Purple leads the conference. Three Tommies rank in the top 10 in the Summit League in batting average.
• Tanner Recchio leads the Summit League in stolen bases (21) and runs scored (33).
Look Back at 2024
Last season, St. Thomas won its first Summit League championship in the DI-era. The Tommies finished with a 22-24 overall record (16-10 Summit League).
St. Thomas Baseball earned eight honors on the 2024 All-Summit League Teams, including seven returners: Max Moris (First Team), Brigs Richartz (First Team), Jacob Mrosko (Second Team) Evan Esch (Second Team), Matthew Maulik (Second Team) Tanner Recchio (Second Team), and Joe Roder (Honorable Mention).

• Chris Olean begins his 16th season with St. Thomas in 2025. He has totaled an overall record of 402-248-1 (337-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season.
• Olean is a three-time NCAA DIII Region Coach of the Year and closed out its DIII era by winning championships in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and region en route to a national runner-up finish and 37-10 record.
• During the last 12 DIII seasons the Purple won eight MIAC Championships, capped by third-place national finishes in both 2012 and 2014, in addition to the runner-up finish in 2021.
• Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
