Baseball drops game two to the Bison

FARGO, N.D.– St. Thomas baseball continued its series against North Dakota State on Saturday afternoon in Fargo. In game two, North Dakota State (11-19 overall, 8-5 Summit) defeated St. Thomas (17-12 overall, 11-2 Summit) at Newman Outdoor Field.

North Dakota State tallied a run in the first inning, opening scoring on Saturday. After the Bison added two runs in the third, a six-run fourth frame gave the Tommies their first lead of the game.

Joe Vos opened the fourth inning with a leadoff solo home run to left-center field. Ben Vujovich and Joe Roder then each posted 2-RBI hits in the frame, giving St. Thomas a 6-3 advantage.

However, the Bison quickly evened the score in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game at 6-6 through four. Adding one run in the fifth and the seventh, North Dakota State held the two-run advantage through seven innings.

Unable to comeback, St. Thomas dropped the conference contest to North Dakota State, 8-6.

Two Tommies recorded multi-hit games on Saturday. Roder posted two RBIs and two doubles in game two against the Bison.

Walker Retz and Kody Dalen combined for nine strikeouts on Saturday afternoon.
