Duffing sets St. Thomas top 10 times in 110m and 400m hurdles

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The outdoor season began in record fashion for St. Thomas track & field as the men and women competed over the past four days at the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational and Raliegh Relays. The Tommies saw four program records fall, and 17 top 10 marks set or tied between the meets in the states of Texas and North Carolina.

Three of the St. Thomas records were set at the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas in Austin, as Olivia Keller began her week in the heptathlon. She finished seventh in the event with a score of 4844, which breaks her own program record. It was one of two records set during the week by Keller, as she also broke the program's 400-meter dash record during the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. Keller ran 55.42 in the 400m dash to break the previous school record of 55.98, set by Nikki Arola in 2010.

Returning Summit League javelin champion Anna Swanson broke her own school record at the Texas Relays on Friday, taking sixth in the event with a throw of 49.19m.

The 4x100m relay team of Hannah Cornelius, Alexis Pratt, Danika Apple and Rebecca Randleman set the new program record in the event at the Texas Relays on Friday with a time of 45.82, one day before rebreaking the record with a time of 45.22 at the Bobcat Invitational. The relay finished 19th at the Texas Relays and fourth at the Bobcat Invitational.

Sam Duffing improved his personal best times in the 110m and 400m hurdles, first running the 400m hurdles in 53.42 at the Texas Relays for the program's ninth-fastest time. He followed up at the Bobcat Invitational to run 53.21 in the 400m hurdles, ranking seventh in program history, and 14.44 in the 110m hurdles for the fourth-fastest time. Brendan Harter also set a top 10 mark, tying for ninth all-time with a height of 2.01m in the high jump.

Hannah Cornelius set personal records in the 100m, 200m and 400m dashes, placing herself among the top 10 at St. Thomas in all three. Her 400m dash of 56.40 ranks fourth and 200m time of 24.89 ranks sixth, both set at the Bobcat Invitational, while her 100m dash of 12.24 at the Texas Relays ranks eighth all-time.

Danika Apple now ranks third all-time at St. Thomas in both the 100m and 200m dashes following her first full collegiate outdoor weekend. She took second in the 100m das in 11.94 before running 24.63 in the 200m. Rebecca Randleman ran the 400m in 57.04 at the Bobcat Invitational to rank fifth all-time at St. Thomas while Hailey Hindt placed second in the 400m hurdles at the Texas Relays with a time of 1:01.21, which tied her personal best that ranks second in program history.

Four mid- and distance runners also competed at the Raleigh Relays, led by senior Ava Pankratz in the 5000m run. She improved her personal best with a time of 17:15.29, which ranks fifth all-time at St. Thomas.

QUOTABLES

Women's Head Coach Ashley Lucas:
