Comeback complete, Baseball defeats Tarleton 14-12 in series finale

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – St. Thomas baseball completed its series at Tarleton State with a Sunday afternoon contest. After falling behind early in game four, the Tommies scored eight runs over the final three innings to earn the 14-12 victory.

Both teams tallied a run in the opening frame. After the Tommies added two runs in the second, Tarleton State followed up with a four-run inning to gain the lead.

The Texas held the lead until the Tommies began their comeback bid in the sixth.

St. Thomas tallied three runs in the sixth inning led by Max Moris with an RBI-triple and Joe Vos with a two-run home run. However, Tarleton State added six runs of its own to extend the Texans lead to 12-6.

With his second home run of the ballgame, Joe Vos recorded a second two-run homer to lift the Tommies to a five-run seventh inning.

St. Thomas took the lead in the top of the ninth as Matthew Maulik and Tanner Recchio posted back-to-back RBI.

Holding the lead, St. Thomas completed the comeback earning a 14-12 win in the series finale.

The Tommies tallied 21 hits, led by Moris who went 5-for-5 with three RBI. Vos tallied four hits and two home runs, totaling five RBI.

Jacob Mrosko, Riane Ritter and Zak Endres (2-0) combined for 10 strikeouts.
