Baseball drops midweek game to Minnesota

Fritcher records first home run in 8-2 loss to the Gophers
MINNEAPOLIS – St. Thomas baseball faced Minnesota in a midweek matchup at U.S. Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening. After the Tommies took the first lead of the game, Minnesota (8-11 overall, 2-4 B1G) scored in four-straight innings to defeat St. Thomas (9-7 overall, 3-0 Summit) by a score of 8-2.
After four scoreless innings, St. Thomas was the first on the board on Wednesday. A two-run home run by Easton Fritcher put the Tommies up in the fifth frame. Fritcher recorded his first collegiate homer against his former team.
However, the Gophers quickly responded adding two runs in the fifth frame. Scoring in each of the following innings, the Gophers defeated the Tommies 8-2.
Bryce Leedle did not give up a hit or a run through four innings, allowing one hit through 5.1 innings of work.
Easton Bobb and Carl Cano combined for three strikeouts against Minnesota.
