Tommies play Minnesota on Wednesday, before traveling to South Dakota State for Summit League series
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas baseball team is set to play Minnesota at US Bank Stadium on Wednesday, March 19 at 6:00 p.m. After the non-conference matchup, the Tommies travel to Brookings S.D. for a Summit League series against South Dakota State from March 21-23.

Last Time Out
The Tommies swept Omaha in the first conference series of the season, opening Summit League play 3-0.
St. Thomas defeated Omaha by scores of 21-11, 4-3, and 13-7 over the weekend.
Next up for the Tommies
• The St. Thomas baseball team is set to play four games this week.
• On Wednesday, the Tommies will face the Gophers at US Bank Stadium.
• Minnesota holds a 5-1 record over the Tommies since 2022.
• South Dakota State holds a 12-2 record against St. Thomas.
• Last season, St. Thomas went 2-3 against the Jackrabbits, including a 1-2 record on the road.
2025 Schedule
The Tommies are slated to play 18 games at Koch Diamond, beginning with a three-game series against Oral Roberts from March 28-30. The Tommies will play 21 non-conference games and a full 30-game Summit League schedule.
Throughout March, the Purple are scheduled to play 20 games, beginning at Tarleton State. The Tommies open conference play at Omaha against the Mavericks from March 14-16. St. Thomas will wrap up the month of March at home, hosting Oral Roberts.
The Purple open the month of April in St. Paul, welcoming Summit League opponent Northern Colorado. The Tommies are set to play seven games at home and eight on the road throughout April.
St. Thomas will play nine of its final 12 games at Koch Diamond. The nine-game home stretch includes opponents from three conferences: the Big Ten, Horizon League and Summit League.
The Tommies will be on the road in Greeley, Colo. for the final series of the 2025 season, playing Northern Colorado.
Tommie Leaders
•Through 15 games played, graduate student Max Moris leads the Tommies in eight categories, including: batting avg. (.444), OPS (1.186), RBI (20), and SLG% (.667).
• In 15.1 innings of work, Riane Ritter has posted 23 strikeouts. Walker Retz leads the Tommies with a 3.54 ERA, totaling 21 strikeouts in 20.1 innings.
Tommie Offense
•The St. Thomas offense has exploded this spring, totaling 147 runs in 15 games played. In 2024, the Tommies recorded 307 runs through 46 games.
• Eight Tommies have combined for 14 home runs to start the season.
• With a .357 team batting average, the Purple leads the conference. Six Tommies rank in the top-10 in the Summit League in batting average.
Look Back at 2024
Last season, St. Thomas won its first Summit League championship in the DI-era. The Tommies finished with a 22-24 overall record (16-10 Summit League).
St. Thomas Baseball earned eight honors on the 2024 All-Summit League Teams, including seven returners: Max Moris (First Team), Brigs Richartz (First Team), Jacob Mrosko (Second Team) Evan Esch (Second Team), Matthew Maulik (Second Team) Tanner Recchio (Second Team), and Joe Roder (Honorable Mention).

Leading the Pack
• Chris Olean begins his 16th season with St. Thomas in 2025. He has totaled an overall record of 394-240-1 (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season.
• Olean is a three-time NCAA DIII Region Coach of the Year and closed out its DIII era by winning championships in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and region en route to a national runner-up finish and 37-10 record.
• During the last 12 DIII seasons the Purple won eight MIAC Championships, capped by third-place national finishes in both 2012 and 2014, in addition to the runner-up finish in 2021.
• Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
