Tommie Softball stays local for 2025 Gopher Indoor Classic at U.S. Bank Stadium

ST. PAUL, Minn. – After two weekends in Texas, Tommie Softball is staying local for five games at U.S. Bank Stadium for the 2025 Gopher Indoor Classic. The Tommies (6-7 overall) are off to their best start in program history through the first three weekends of the 2025 campaign.

2025 Gopher Indoor Classic
The Toms head across the river to downtown Minneapolis for five games in three days at U.S. Bank Stadium. They return to this tournament for the second time in program history. There was no 2024 Gopher Indoor Classic. St. Thomas has yet to record a win at the tournament in five tries.

The schedule has the Tommies playing Miami of Ohio at 9:00 a.m. on Friday followed by a game against Wagner at 2:00 p.m. The following day the Toms match up with Miami once again at 10:00 a.m., their only contest on Saturday. There are two games on tap for Sunday, a 9:00 a.m. first pitch against Wagner and a 2:00 p.m. first pitch against Minnesota to conclude the tournament.

This is the first match up between the Tommies and RedHawks in program history.
The Miami RedHawks are 4-10 this season after a 1-3 weekend at the Rocket City Showcase. They have wins over Arizona State, Appalachian State, Winthrop, and East Tennessee. So far this season, the biggest threat at the plate for Miami has been senior Jenna Golembiewski, she is slashing .273/.365/.636 and is the only qualified player with an OPS over 1.000. She has been slugging with two triples and four home runs, both team leading marks. Each of their qualified starting pitchers have struggled to start the year, Madilyn Reeves has a 4.88 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched and Lea Chevrier has a 4.96 ERA in 36.2 innings pitched.

This is the first match up between the Tommies and Seahawks in program history.
The Wagner Seahawks are 0-3 this season with losses to Georgetown, West Georgia, and North Carolina. They finished 8-30 in 2024 with a 3-18 record in the Northeast Conference.

The Tommies are 0-2 against the Golden Gophers. Minnesota won in five innings, 8-0, in 2023 and came away with a 9-3 win in 2022.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 5-9 to begin the 2025 season. They finished 3-2 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Cal. last weekend with wins over Fresno State, Missouri, and Long Beach State. The Gopher's best hitter, Nani Valencia, is slashing an absurd .467/.510/.711 with 21 hits, five doubles, two home runs, and 32 bases in 45 at-bats this season. Sidney Schwartz has been their most effective starting pitcher with a 3.77 ERA in 37.1 innings pitched.

The most convenient fan parking is available at a cost in the Mills Fleet Farm Parking Garage adjacent to U.S. Bank Stadium. The METRO Light Rail Blue and Green Line offer frequent and fast light rail service directly to U.S. Bank Stadium from Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Bloomington. Fans will enter the stadium via the Northwest Corner near the ticketing office.
