Women’s Hockey drops series opener to Bemidji State

The Tommies fall at home to the Beavers
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team hosted Bemidji State in the series opener between the two squads. Four third period goals lifted Bemidji State (6-25-1, 4-21-0 WCHA) to a win over St. Thomas (8-21-2, 5-19-1 WCHA) on Friday evening.
RECAP
It was a scoreless first period at Saint Thomas Ice Arena until Bemidji State tallied the game's first goal with just under two minutes to play in the opening frame.
Bemidji State held the 1-0 lead through the second period, as neither squad found the back of the net during the middle frame. The Tommies led in shots on goal 18-12 through 40 minutes.
The Beavers scored on a penalty shot to start the third period. Adding three more third period goals, including one empty net, Bemidji State earned the 5-0 victory on Friday evening.
